Debi is interested in exploring the complex and dynamic processes underlying childhood mood (dys)regulation. Leveraging novel computational techniques and a multi-method approach, she hopes to investigate how sociocultural factors and trauma shape psychopathology onset (particularly the development of irritability, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts and behaviors) and the associated cognitive mechanisms. She aims to contribute to early interventions for at-risk youth by understanding the cognitive and protective mechanisms that influence treatment outcomes in underserved communities.
